It's a dead man's party. Who could ask for more? Everybody's coming leave you body at the door, leave your body and soul at the door.
-Oingo Boingo

Mike, you have no idea how sad I am about not throwing a party! I've had a Halloween Party every year for the last three years. This year, I may be heading to some party in Orange County with some of Matt's friends, but it just won't be the same really. I miss carving pumpkins with everyone, Becky always taking care to make delicious pumpkin seeds. That makes me sad!

I was thinking of creating Daniel-son's shower costume in The Karate Kid. I figured it would be pretty cheap to do. I'm not sure what else I would be. Maybe Leela from Futurama. I would just have to figure out how to pull off one eye and still be able to see.

The Chili Peppers were awesome last Friday. When I heard the sound check when I wrote last week, it was actually them practicing. I sat in the cafe behind the back door to the gallery and I was about ten feet away. Later, at the show, I begged them in my head not to play Under the Bridge but it happened anyway. The sad thing was is that all these people were singing along to it, even these middle aged balding guys. Do these people know that this song is about doing herion? He drew some blood under the bridge. He wasn't having a party under there. Whatever. It was an amazing show, and I'm not even the biggest fan. I have pictures but no way to post them at the moment.

Also, another figure that I didn't expect to see was Theo Huxtable - or Malcom Jamal Warner as he is probably known as by friends and family. That didn't stop us from calling him Theo all night. I don't care if he has dreds, he's still Theo to me.

Beck? Greg? Christie? What is everybody up to?

Work exchange of the day:
Me: So, weren't we supposed to have a fight to the death in the parking lot over something yesterday?
Co-worker Craig: Oh yeah! (slight pause) So, do you want to order Chinese for lunch today?

Major events of the last week:
- bowled a 62 while sitting in a chair and drinking a beer about 10 feet from the lanes at Lincoln Square Lanes
- used the phrase "Dude, let's get some lobster thermador!" after a night of drinking

Dream of californication.
-RHCP

It’s been a rather busy week here. Matt and I went to Ikea on Monday and bought a new bookcase. We were hoping that by buying this bookshelf, we would be able to unpack a bunch of boxes in our closet, letting the closet become the designated place for clothes as opposed to the pile at the end of our bed. Well, it did help with the box unpacking process, but were forced to live in squalor for a couple of days while we slowly put things in their places.

We said farewell to Dustin on Tuesday, in our messy apartment, who should be arriving back in Chicago sometime early next week. Some people have told me that if anyone stays here for two years or so, they’ll never leave. Dustin just missed that cutoff mark. : )

We also finally introduced little Tiger and Josie and well, Josie hisses a lot more then she used to. Tiger, in need of a motherly figure, follows Josie around everywhere and mimics Josie’s movements. Josie scratches, Tiger scratches. Josie cleans her paw, Tiger cleans her paw. Josie is on the bed, Tiger tries to get on the bed and Josie hisses. Good times.

I also found out that my old roomate in Newcastle, just had her baby. His name is Jacob, and is blessed to be born into one of the coolest families I've ever met. Steph and John are a great couple and will be excellent parents as well.

Matt played percussion with his friend’s band on Wednesday – they kinda played music similar to Cameron McGill but in full band style. Not so bad, although I don't think that Matt's too into it.

Tonight is an exciting event here at Bergamot Station where my gallery is located. California Democrats are having a fundraiser to help get more democrats in the senate. Some of the folks that will be here tonight include Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama and the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS! I am very excited because I don’t have to pay because I work here. The folks who run this gig asked if the Chili Peppers could use our gallery as their Green Room. I could have hung out with the Red Hot Chili Peppers! Unfortunately, the boss lady said no, so hopefully I can get a glimpse of them hanging around. I can hear the sound check now as we speak!

Ok, gotta go! Have a great weekend

So if the answers no, can I change your mind.

If there is one thing that I don't miss about yoga classes is Nora. I'm hoping that the blue yoga supersuit is better than the all grey one she used to wear. yikes.

I did manage to go hiking - well, as close as you can get to hiking in LA , ok, maybe it was more of a scenic walk - this past Monday. It was up in the canyons, so you can see pretty much all of LA and it's smog from the top. It was a great day though, not too hot and just the right amount of cool breeze. Then after Matt and my walk we adopted a cat. Here's the thing. We were just going to look, you know, pet a few dogs and cats at the shelter and then go home and pet Josie. Well, we get there and this tiny kitten (10 months old) is just so cute and friendly and playful that we take her home. Her name is Tiger, because, conveniently enough, she has stripes like a tiger. We are very original. Anyway, we keep Tiger in our front room and close her off from the bedroom and kitchen. Josie sits by the door and hisses. As you can guess, she's pretty pissed. We are hoping that by this weekend, she won't want to kill Tiger and we can open up the house again and introduce the two.

Everything else is going well here. I'm all alone at work and I've completed all my projects. I guess I could clean up a bit. . .

Mike, I'm sorry you got pooped on. When I was in Austin two years ago, I was standing under a tree and got pooped on. It's sick in Austin - you can tell that mass amounts of birds are in the trees because the pavement underneath them is just covered in bird shit. Mind you, you would think that I would be smart enough to stay away from the trees with all that evidence on the ground but no. The good thing for me was 1) I was alone, 2) it was nighttime and 3)I was on my way back to the hotel anyway!

Becky

Good morning everybody. I was supposed to go to a book club last night, but it got rescheduled, so I was able to make it to yoga!

It was a good yoga class, small, but not too small, but boy was Nora in rare form!! She was in all blue spandex and at one point during some breathing exercises there was some noise coming from one of the actors studios that is on the floor and she couldn't handle it. Then somehow we got on the topic of John Mahoney who apparently teaches in our building and Nora was trying to figure out who he was (Mary of course had no idea) and she wouldn't shut up about it. I was going to tell her it was the dad from Frasier but I was worried that might just create more confusion.... ah, good times at yoga!!

I just wanted to check in to say that a bird pooped on me today as I was reading outside. Also, crashing private parties at Schubas is a delightful weekend activity.

My shadow's the only one who walks besides me. My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating. - Green Day

I have been listening to KROQ because I am sick of all the tapes in my car (yes I only have a tape deck.) I was sick of KROQ by day two because they played the new U2 song Vertigo, at least 8 times during the day and it's not that good of a song. Chris, my co-worker, alerted me to the fact that there is a station called Indie 103 that is basically some dork with an i-pod. It's much better, but sometimes even that gets annoying. My whole point is that I don't miss Chicago Radio, because well, it really does suck, but that because many bands hail from California, such as Green Day, they have been playing a bunch of different songs off the album instead of just one single. Also, since I moved here, I don't think that I've heard this much Social Distortion since the mid 90's!

I had a great time at home which has made me both a little depressed and homesick. I know it's only been two months and I should give it a chance because, well, I made this move, so with that in mind, I feel better.

Celebrities Matt has seen:
-Owen Wilson
-Ron Howard
-Jon Feldman (of Goldfinger - he even talked to him)
-some 80's sitcom actor (If I had seen him, I'd probably be able to name who he was)
-The best friend from My So Called Life - I don't know her name.

ME:
-Street Smarts guy!

I swear, I live in a shoebox!

I have a small cold due to the dirty people in airplanes who do not wash their hands and then touch everything!

I hope to go hiking this weekend. Hope everyone has a good one!

Becky
