Jen

So I'm back.

I just helped set up the museum for the Martin Paar Lecture tonight. I haven't seen much of his work, so I'm interested in seeing what he has to offer. If we went off the price of his book, which he will be signing tonight, he must be fantastic because it's 75 bucks. I want the book though, so thank the um, museum, for my museum discount!

I'm going to yoga tonight, obviously, because I am needed around here. That in combo with the stomach thing that's going on makes me think that going to yoga tonight wasn't in the stars. Next week: definitly.

Tomorrow, I have to get some vaccinations so that I can continue to go to this fine establishment known as Columbia College. Listen to this. According to their records, I need to get a mumps shot, a rubella* shot and two measles shots. Who in the hell still gets rubella????? and two freakin' shots for measles!!! I really don't want to get 1 shot, or any shots for that matter. boo.

Ok, I better get back downstairs and get to work.

*Or, one of the best Smoking Popes songs ever!

Jen

I want to fill my glass up with you constantly.

Yes I do.

My stomach and I are having a huge arguement and I think it's winning.

Here is my problem. I would like to finish writing this, but I was asked to go upstairs to the digital lab and scan in a transparency. So, I guess I'll be right back with the rest of my blog.

Jen

There are times when I want something more, someone more like me. There are times when this dress rehersal feels incomplete.

Some things were solved this weekend, other things not so much. I guess it's a step by step process. . . right?

I just finished printing off two images in the digital lab, and now I am ready to go home! Of course, while I'm waiting for these mo fo's to print, I am thankful for one thing in particular: my cell phone. If it wasn't for this handy little tool, I would have missed Beck's call from San Fran. and I wouldn't have talked to Brian. So, really, it's all good.

The weekend was pretty much shit, except for dinner at my sister's house Sunday night. She seriously knows how to cook a mean veggie lasangna. Did I spell that right?

It's another damn busy week ahead of me, so once I get home, it's all work, work, work.

Greg, your blog made me sad. I miss her too.

the san francisco treat

the becky move-in experience was lovely. a 7 a.m. flight to the coast, a crappy chevy malibu and some gigantic roads later we were sitting in her new apartment. it was nice. we dressed it all up like home and went to bed. then we partyed like it was 1999 on saturday. word from the wise. if you have legs like mine, don't try walking around san francisco. sheesh!! it's like you're mountain climbing.

we had a great dinner, made fun of jasper jones, and fell asleep on the train ride home. all in all it was wonderful. what memories are made of. now i'm just trying to understand why she won't answer her phone in willowbrook when i call.

the day's moving slow. last wednesday we a rockin benefit in the lovely town of urbana and i was talking with toby of the red hot valentines. apparently he's down with the straigh legged kick crew. those slk kids are such rockstars. we;re playing another show at the canopy in urbana this wednesday, but it will be without me. i wish i could sneak down in disguise to see the show. I always wonder whether we just look like asses or really, really big asses when we play.

rock out.

Jen

I've packed a changed of clothes and it's time to move on.

I'm a little nervous about tonight and pretty upset about it too. argh. I don't want to talk about it.

Anyway, Becky and Greg are currently in San Franciso getting Becky all settled in to her new place. Last night at Fizz, was both a singles night (for some dot com company) and what turned into another going away party for Beck. It was a sad night for me, because I'll miss having Becky around. It's not easy to find a friend who will do stupid stuff with you willingly AND have fun doing it. So, it's 8 months and then she's home. Of course, this means that I'll have to make it out to San Fran a couple of times too. And it also means that Greg and I are going to be spending much more quality time together!!!!

After Becky left, I hung out for a bit more with my awesome friends that I've met here at the museum. Nate was telling me about this web page that he is working on, and how this question box pops up and asks, Who's the boss? The answers are either Tony Danza or Bruce Springsteen, and if you click either of their names, you go to their web site. Anyway, I have this wierd fascination with Tony Danza for some reason. I remember going to this Italian restaurant once with my family and there was this poster of fifty notable Italians. Guess who was on the poster? Good ole Tony Danza. All night (and especially after a few drinks) I was trashing Tony Danza left and right, especially because I couldn't understand why he was on the Notable Italians poster. This has become known as the "Tony Danza incident" to my family. Enough about that, go look at his web page!!! It's brilliant!

Friday Fun Day at the museum hasn't been all that much fun. It started getting better about an hour ago, only because I decided to take some of work downstairs to the prep room. It's only fun down there!!! I have no idea why I wrote that.

Wish me luck this weekend, even though you have no idea why.

Jen

Here we are now, entertain us.

I heard "Smells like Teen Spirt" on the radio as I was getting dressed this morning. I felt like I was in high school again.

Digital class was pretty uneventful this morning. Our usual professor is out on vacation maybe, I don't know, and we had another grad student teach us. It was slightly odd, only because a) he is just another grad student and b) I know that there are people in my class (ok, maybe including me) that don't respect him. It's not because he's sucks at photography, it's because 90% of the time, he is a pretentious asshole. Actually we have a nickname for him: either "the star" (and you have to draw a star formation in the air while saying it) or "best in show." I haven't come into much contact during my time here at Columbia, but I have seen him in action being an asshole. He was ok this morning and actually kind of helpful. Maybe I should take everything I wrote about him back.

Nah.

I have a project due next Wednesday for digital and I need show to show work in seminar again, so I should probably be working on it right now so that next week isn't as busy as last week was. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do. . . It's tough having to produce new work week after week, especially when it isn't coming to you. I really like the word "week."

I'm realizing now that I really don't have all that much to say. The blog looks pretty empty and I felt bad. Hopefully, we'll get back on track once Becky's all settled in!

Ok, I'm going to enjoy this day before it rains.

Hi. I'm Jennifer. Welcome to the Museum of Contemporary Photography.

So yeah, I just gave my first tour.

I was typing out labels for some files (this is at about 3:30) and Corinne, who runs the tours at the museum, comes in and asks me if I can give a tour. I say ok, because I'm thinking that the tour will be the next time I'm working. Um, no. It's at 4:00 today. I get a little scared, because I'm not really sure what to say about the current work we have up. I like most of it, except the stupid Mourning Wall. So, we go through a quick run through, and by 4:00, I'm giving a tour to about 25 photo 1 high school kids. It turned out to be a really good learning experience. The kids were really inquisitive, and kept me going for a full 40 minutes.

I'm am glad it's over though!!!!

Tonight will be my first yoga class without Becky. I really don't want to go without her, but I have to get used to it. 8 months is a long time without yoga. It's just that we have been going together for almost two years now, and it just won't be the same. Who else will I goof off with. boo. : (

That's pretty much my life at a glance. Oh yeah, I finally saw "The Man who wasn't There," and I have to say, that I was not too impressed. I was really excited about seeing it too. Anyway, I thought it was really beautifully filmed, but I wasn't attached to any of the characters. I also found it to be fairly predictable. There is my 30 second review.

Ok, I want to go home. It's been a long day with classes and work AND a tour. I'm exhausted, but not too exhausted to do the sun salute.

i hit my head and now my head hurts

i hate colds. they slowly eat you up from the head down. never a good time.

becky has boarded a plane off to dallas. she has exactly one night left in her apartment before she becomes an official full-time resident of san francisco. that's a little disturbing, let me tell you.

as for me, i've been the same old dork. i bought an x-box. i'm going to see the cubs play tomorrow. i'm thinking about ordering cheap chinese food for dinner. my life just bleeds the fantastic. the excitement is seeping through my pores. time to cough my lungs away. i didn't need them anyway.

Take an animated journey through the colon.

I heard this on the news last night before I went to bed, and I had to laugh at it. That is the last possible thing that I'd want to see animated.

We saw the guys play last night at Wise Fool with a band called the Jesters. Interesting indeed. They all came out dressed in these super cheap looking basketball uniforms, which really wasn't as bad as the fact that they had to make references to it all night long. They had a good horn section though and a pretty good singer. Becky and Greg left before they played "Hit Me with your Best Shot." If you've been reading the blog for some time, you know that we have a weakness for Pat Benetar. I know. I know.

I got an email from barsuk records, and they are selling three Cd's in a pack from the Death and Dismemberment tour with The Plan and Death Cab for Cuite (also Aveo's new CD- that makes three!). If you don't have either of these, now you can pick up both at once. What a deal!!!!

Today is Becky's last day at work, so I hope we hear a short goodbye before she starts the new section of the blog out in California. So, send Beck an e-card or something and wish her good luck!!!

Becky

Okay, I just found this article: the fish you all know as the "Chilean Sea bass" is really a fish called the Patagonian toothfish. Gross!!

Jen

I think you're just what I needed.

I only have time to write two things:

1)So Gant and I are at Clark's on Belmont, sitting outside, drinking root beer floats (they rocked) and because I am a dork, I started singing "just what I needed," a very fine Cars tune, to my lovely beverage. Not even a minute later, the song comes on the loud speaker. I swear, I was in awe for a good five minutes becasue of it.

2) There was this couple waiting for the L that were showing a little too much PDA* if you know what I mean. Anyway, they were wrestling for the guy's basketball and it fell on the L tracks. It was only amusing because a train was about to approach in a minute or so, and everyone who saw the ball fall moved super far back on the platform. Could a train de-rail because of a basketball? And like moving further back on the platform would save you somehow? Ok, I moved too.

I had a mailing list crisis this morning that isn't worth going into, so I'm getting off this thing (computer). If you are bored, check this out.

*Public display of affection

Becky

West Siiiideee!!!

You know I went to clinton, Iowa yesterday, right? it was rockin-the plant manager kept calling me Dorothy. I'm not really sure where that come from mis-hearing Becky, but watever. and here I am back at work.

I tried to go out and be fun last night-I lasted for about an hour and had to go home. oh well.
This weekend is my last in town and will also be remembered as the weekend of heavy Italian food. Buca on friday night with the girls and Maggianos on saturday for the bridal shower. woah!

Tonight is my last drawing a blank show :(

Sorry for all of the sadness! It's hard to know what to say these days, cause all I can really think about is how these next few days are the last time I am going to see alot of people I love and do alot of things I love for along time. I still am finding it hard to comprehend that I will be in california looking at my new apt 1 week from tomorrow. I'll try to be more interesting later!

Califronia knows how to party.*

It's really nice outside, and yet here I am, in the computer lab. Boo.

I have to finish printing out work for my Grad Seminar. I don't know if I like any of the new stuff I shot. I'll look at them later when I get home and decide. Too bad it will pretty much be too late to do anything about it because I have to show work tomorrow!!!! Yay procrastination!!!!

Last night was Beck's last night at yoga for a full eight months, that is, unless she decides to keep it up in San Fran. Crazy Mary was making corrections on Becky all night, only because according to her the Yogi are a lot harder on students there. It was pretty funny. Ahhh, that's our Mary.

I don't have too much new stuff going on either. I'm hoping to leave here pretty soon and go shoe shopping. I realized that I don't have any sandals, and if it's going to stay this warm, I better get a pair.

I've already been back to the printer twice during this blog and my print still isn't there!!!! Where the hell is it???? GRRR. to networking large computer lab to two printers.

I want to be outside!!!!

*Becky will know this all too soon. : (

Jen

Sip my morning tea but you're not next to me.

The house was so empty this morning, but so nice too. Huh.

I feel completely spoiled by the awesome weather that we are having. I ate lunch outside today at the park across the street from school and besides getting this wierd white stuff on my back pack (some kind of fertilizer maybe?) it was an extremely enjoyable experience. Even waiting last night for Pat to pick me up from school was great; just sitting outside, looking at our lovely city. Even the homeless guy that bugged me for change didn't even really bother me. That's how nice it was.

I'm sure that everyone has in their taxes by now, but last night, it was a some sort of mad frenzy at the post office on Harrison. They actually had the post office staff outside waiting to take envelopes. There were hordes of people out and traffic sucked around there. According to Nate, they were passing out little samples (like gum and snacks) like it was some sort of sporting event. It reminds me of that Simpsons Episode - you know, Flanders gets his taxes in as soon as it's January 1st and then Homer makes up some stuff about the family and then mails his taxes in at the last moment. I beleive the plot line turns to Homer having to get Mr.Burn's million dollar bill and they end up in Cuba. "Cuba? you talking about Cuba?" Moral of this story? Send your taxes in on time. Either that or pretty much anything can be related back to the Simpsons.

I only sent mine in early because I am getting a sweet return! As for Pat, as usual, he sent them in exactly on the 15th. I swear I wrote a story about this before. Come to think of it. . .

I'm working on the mailing list today, and I found myself very distracted by our old archives. I either a)had better stories to tell or b) had a way more interesting life one year ago at this time or c) I had more time on my hands. I really can't tell. See for yourself, if you want. (or this one)

Ok, I want to get a little bit more of this (mailing list action!!!) done, then run upstairs and make a better print of my digital project.

Becky

Well, here I am and theres not much to do. I don't like to leave things to the last minute so my desk is pretty much cleaned up and work is pretty much finished. I do have my plant trip to Iowa to look forward to for tomorrow, but other than that, pretty much nothin going on here.

I've been meaning to make alot of CD's to bring with me, but that hasn't really happened yet. What's with the depressing reviews of the Promise Ring album? I was hoping things would turn out better!! still, there is enough love yet to take me to their show in San Fran.

My car got a check up today and my bank account becaome $275 less today. why god why? they tried to make me give them an extra $400 for brakes which might last 5,000-10,000 more miles. why would I get them done now? 5,000 is like a year away now that I won't be driving everyday. greedy pigs!

Last night of Yoga tonight. :(

Sexy girlfiend!!!*

Itchy skin=bad

Peter and I sat outside for about an hour or so after work. Let me explain my skin tone to you: pasty white. Yeah, so I'm feeling it right now.

I'm school late working on my digital project. I was hoping to finish it and print it tonight, but it's not looking like it will happen. I really need to get it out of the way because tomorrow is Becky's last day of yoga, and I can't miss it for anything!!!!!!! I could get here early on Wednesday morning when the project is due, but the lab isn't open until 9. That is when I conveniently have class. I'll figure it out. I always do.

Becky's party was tons of fun. So fun that I passed out a little early. Yes, I am embarrassed. I woke up feeling fine though, probably because of all the nap time I got. That and this alkaseltzer thing I took before I really went to bed. They do say "alkaseltzer to the rescue," and they are right!

Work was pretty cool today. We went on an office field trip to see a company's private collection. Then we walked back to work and stopped for ice cream. It's nice to have a pregnant woman in the bunch- she spotted Baskin Robbins from about two blocks away.

Ok, back to this project of mine, and then, hopefully home and aloe vera.

*Long Duck Dong is the best name for a character ever.

Becky

I'll be there for you, these 5 words I swear to you, when you breathe I wanna be the air for you....

Greg had no idea that I know alot of words to Bon Jovi songs. word.

What a weekend! A great party on saturday night!! thanks to all who came, especially those who brought me copies of Sixteen Candles to keep me company while I am far away.

I think about $600 was spent on video game systems/accesories/games this weekend. wow. I am the proud owner of a new gameboy advanced. I can tell you this-it rules. It not only can play my old back and white games, but it turns them to color as well. and it only takes 2 batteries and it is really light. I love it.

3 more days of work left here, not counting the trip to Clinton.

Jen

One more thing, please read the article from the Onion about the Yo La Tengo disaster. It is so funny.

Bye.

Jen

The first time. The second time. Let's stop this clock from starting.*

Sorry that I have neglected you** all week!!

It's been an interesting week indeed. I've been super busy with school work too. Anyway, here's a quick sum up of my week and some stuff that has happened.

Tuesday: Besides cutting open my index finger with a staple, really nothing too exciting happened. I fell in yoga again when trying to do a headstand in the middle of the room. It's almost too exciting to type. I have to stop now.

Wednesday: There was this homeless guy in front of Columbia with all this Blistex that he was selling for 50 cents per stick. It looked like he just walked into Walgreens and ripped it off a stand. It made me laugh. I love that black market Blistex. Hmmm, what else. I took some photos for my digital documentary project in the project located on Taylor and Racine. Two interesting things that happened? Two residents that were making some sort of "exchange" in my field of vision saw me with my camera and then said out loud: "that's the police taking pictures!" I looked around confused until I realized that they were speaking of me. A couple minutes later, I am approached by a cop to ask me if I'm ok and then to tell me that I am a "brave young lady." What do I say? "Thanks!" How else do you respond to that?

Thursday: (Also known as the most beautiful day this year.) Had a great time outside, went to Fizz and then later to Danny's where I hung out with the guys from work. Then I drove home one very drunk and loud boy.

Friday: It's Friday fun day! (As it is proclaimed by all of us at the museum) We are betting on when Stephanie (my awesome boss ) will have her baby. If little Henry (or Happy Jackson, as he is so fondly called by us) is born on June 6th, I'm 100 bucks richer. I also got my Q and not U* cd in the mail. Is anyone going to that show?***

That's all I have time for!!! Yay to weekend, haircut and nails, and nice weather!

*It's not a new cd or anything by them. The quote and the CD I purchased is from "No kill no beep beep" which came out in 2000. I had all the stuff on my computer, but I wanted the actual cd, so I finally broke down and bought it.
**Our sweet little blog.
*** April 21st at the Metro.

Becky

Its going to be quite a weekend. not much time to write today, but go check out this site aboutGarden of Glass at the Garfield Park Conservetory. It looks awesome and I'm hoping to go on sunday.

ps-I definitely like my haircut now that I am getting used to it.

Becky

Oh dear, the days are going by quickly. We have been busy lately! Tuesday was Yoga and Mary is officially going to miss me-I'm thinking about conferencing in from now on. do you think that the yoga studio will spring for a video conference unit?

Last night was the debut of Lunar Pilots, our friend Mike's band. It was cool and the Lyon's Den was a cool place to see a show!

The massive going away party that greg should really be typing about cause its wierd to be writing about my own going away party but whatevs, is Saturday and the theme (s) is (are) Martinis (for me) and Whiskey (for greg). Jen, is there anything that you want to add??

and finally, I get to go to Clinton, Iowa next week. does life get any better?

Wednesday, April 10, 2002

hello?? my post from yesterday never posted, so check it out, its really really funny.

Becky

Have you ever accidentally called a fax number? My ear is still ringing.

yes, its true, not only was a TV purchased on sunday, but a TV stand as well from the biggest store ever. its set up with surround sound right now-not too shabby. its a good think the apartment is all set up nice now and I get to move in 2 weeks.

but I will have some good looking nails as of saturday.

This morning I almost sent out an email where I referred to my computers docking station accidentally as my "dicking" station. wow, that would've been a great thing for my new fellow empolyees out in California to learn about me before I get out there......

Monday, April 08, 2002

Jen

Some times, I get so tense but I can't speed up the time.*

I did it. I ate the dog.

So, we are at the very sad Cubs game on Saturday, and I buy myself a hotdog. It was pretty anticlimatic, considering that really I was the only one who noticed (besides Becky) that I was eating a hotdog and it's been a good 8 or so years since I last had one. So here's my brief critique on hotdogs: they aren't half bad, but they are definitly not going to make me eat meat again. Especially because a couple hours later, my stomach was killing me. Thank you Nate for the TUMS. They were calcium-licious.

I'm pretty disappointed with the weather today, especially because I was chosen to go out into it today and get a birthday cake for four of the people at work. It was kind of nice to have a mid day field trip, but the rain sucked!!!! The Jewel is too far away from Columbia and the museum, so I got to take a cab there, all on work. Too bad that I had to wait outside for another cab carrying a large sheet cake and two tubs of ice cream. The cake was damn good though. mmmmm.

So the weekend turned out to be very good, and productive for the most part. I do have to get my ass back into school work mode, which really doesn't seem to likely. Then again, I am here at school, working late on this artist packet that I have to hand out in class tomorrow. I guess that does kind of put me back into the swing of things. I just don't want to be, you know?

I have tons of stuff to do besides this, like write an artist statement, take some psuedo documentary photos for digital and, get this, study for a test. I haven't taken a test since my early undergrad days, so I'm not too positive on how well this one will go. Besides, I hate thinking under pressure like that. Especially answering a question that has just one solid answer. Bullshitting, on the other hand, like essay questions, are usually my strong point. That's probably why I'm an artist. Look! I just ripped on being an artist!

One more thing, then back to work. Who ever thought of this daylight savings time crap? My whole day was fucked up yesterday. You think it's 4, but it's really five. All day, I just felt like I was running behind schedule. Today it doesn't really seem like that huge of a deal, but yesterday, I was pissed! Anyway, do we really need to change the time?

Sorry about the above bitch session.

So I'm curious, did you guys (Beck and Greg) get a new TV or what?

*Nate burned Peter a copy of Guns'n'Roses live, but Peter already had it. So, I got the copy. I got a chance to listen to it Saturday night before going out and now I can't get Patience out of my head.

Jen

You don't spell it son, you eat it.*

For some reason, our topic of discussion here at the museum today is soda. Or pop. Depends on where you're from. Anyway, this morning, Peter and I were trying to figure out what company Dr.Pepper is affiliated with: Coke or Pepsi. We figured that it had to be one or the other, unless there is a thrid company, which there is. I so easily found this out by going here, which actually turned out to be pretty interesting Then, at lunch, after we recapped our results for the rest of the staff, we decided that the Pepsi and Coke have a similar relationship to that of England and Ireland. This leads me to believe that we have WAY too much time on our hands to be able to make up such comparisons, although it can be pretty amusing.

It was damn cool having two days off this week, and I even got some work done for my classes. Go me.

The weekend seems pretty action packed as well. Tonight, we are going to Lou Lou's for happy hour. Then tomorrow, it's BASEBALL!!! (and hopefully nice weather too) Then the guys are playing at Coyle's Tippling House and my friend, Peter is having a party. Fun, fun, fun.

I wanted to write a story about something that happened on Wednesday, but now I can't remember. I hate when that happens.

I saw this video on M2 two times that I really liked a lot. It's a black and white cartoon by the group Zero 7, I think. I kept missing, or barely catching the beginning and the end. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

So where is everybody, huh? Oh wait, there's Becky. I don't even have to ask where Greg is because I already know.

*Does anyone know what movie this quote is from? Go ahead and e-mail me if you do. I love getting mail.

Becky

wow, its been awhile

wow, its been busy

did you know that the Promise Ring and the Weakerthans are touring together?

Cubs are on right now (tied, bottom of the 3rd). tomorrow we will be seeing them live in person. I love you sammy. alou needs to get off the DL.

This morning I overslept. I have never done that since college (almost 2 years!!) and I missed the beginning of an important meeting and I looked like crap. what a great day!! in other news, I almost got ran over this morning by this guy who looked about 12 years old driving some POS car. I don't think I have sweared as many times in the last 6 months as I did this morning.....

Tuesday, April 02, 2002

seriously, this is much nicer that what it is outside right now.....

Jen

I can see what a useless man I've become.*

This morning I filed. I have done approx. nothing since. It's not because I don't have things to do, I'm just feeling like a huge slacker. It seems like a lot of people here feel that way today. I think it's just one of those days, you know? Actually, I'm off to get the mail in about ten minutes, and that should take me some time to deal with.

Today my friend, Dave, from LA is coming in to visit for the next couple of days. The cool thing is I will be off work on Wednesday and Thursday AND I'll be hanging out with a cool person. The thing that sucks** is I have to come back to work on Friday, so it kinda makes the week a little broken up. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers, right? Or in my case, any day off rocks, even if it is in the middle of the week.

I can't believe that Becky only has 13 more days blogging from Chicago. How sad is that? The one cool thing is that now the blog is almost bi-costal.*** It will be cool to hear whats going on so many miles away. I have to admit though, I will be so jealous seeing all those nice pictures of warm and awesome California. : )

I have to get the mail.

and eat a piece of chocolate.

*I just bought this cd by Faraquet and this song, study in complacency, is just stuck in my head. What an awesome song.
**By the way, working here doesn't suck, it's just the fact that I have to come in on a Friday- you get it.
***Chicago IS on a coast, of sorts. Notice how I say "almost" bi-coastal.

Becky

So my server at work won't let me see that page from Euguene-what kind of stuff are you posting, Jen??

Apparently my apartment does not exist in the world of UPS. Greg ordered something for his computer and the "couldn't" deliver it to a building that clearly exists, so they are holding it and greg is now on a trek to 1500 S. Jefferson or something like that to go pick it up. good thing he's a slacker and is leaving work early.*

I , on the other hand, have 13 more days of work until my new assignment kicks in.

Did you know that it snowed here yesterday? how wierd was that. hopefully the weather will recover in time for baseball watching on Saturday.

*he's not really a slacker, but did leave work early to meet with his education advisor

Jen

My friend, Eugene, always sends me fun things to see. . .

Lunch was interesting- I walked to FedEx, made a quick stop by Nine West to look at shoes and then grabbed some Subway. The Subway is in this food court on LaSalle and Jackson in some federal building. Anyway, the thing that sucks about going into any sky scraper downtown? Metal detectors. I was searched because my belt set off the metal detector. I even showed the guy my belt, which does have a lot of metal on it, and said, "I bet it was my belt," in that kind of kidding manner because it was obviously my belt. Yeah, they didn't believe me. Apparently, I look like a terrorist.

If the first website that I linked wasn't exciting enough for you, you can look at my friend's, Nate, website. The best part is the link to Jono's birthday. Nate is one bored and talented guy.*

I also attended Jono's birthday extravaganza, which was a lot of fun. Remind me one thing though. If I have a couple of beers, then decide to drive all the way out to Streamwood to spend the night at Pat's parents house, I should definitly go to the bathroom first. I had to go so bad that I stopped at the McDonald's oasis on I-90 West. There are some creepy people hanging out there at 2:30 in the morning. Very scary indeed.

Ok, I'm out.

*PS. I work with both of these guys.

If you look closely at the left side of the picture of tess you will notice the game that greg and I played while we were waiting for laura and mark to come over on saturday morning.

Its the wonderful game of Guess Who? (which is pretty sexist by the way-there are like 5 women and 30 men!)

If you got a picture of your face. Could you leave it on your way out the door?

Look at that nice photograph!

Hopefully I too will be able to post some pics soon as well. I'm bringing in the camera to work tomorrow, so maybe I'll sneak a picture of the wall or something like that.

I just learned how to use the phones here at work. This may seem like I'm a slow learner when in fact, I never had to use the phones until now. I was actually on the phone with two pissed off artists this morning and Fed Ex. Really though, the most exciting thing about the phone is that I can call other offices within the museum. Since I am so lazy, and maybe a wee bit bored, I just called Nate at the front desk. Ah, the wonders of technology.

Right now, I have to walk this artist's (one of the pissed off one's that I just spoke of) portfolio over to FedEx on LaSalle and Van Buren because the guy enclosed the wrong return label. I called the guy on it, and he insisted that it was right and that I didn't talk to the right person. Then he explained to me how these FedEx and some smaller company merged and that I should call FedEx again and ask for a "ground shipping specialist." So I called back and guess what? The label is still the wrong one. That's why I have to go and drop it off at FedEx.

I'll be back in a little bit, hopefully with some more interesting news.

This is Tess:

No more pictures until I find a better way....
Yay! My pictures worked! This is from the new digital camera-it's my sister's dog at my parents place in Sun Prairie during the Passover celebration. It was a fun, but busy weekend as all of mine are going to be for the next few weeks as I get prepared to leave town...more pictures to come!
